In September to October 2014 Alasdair Morrison and Michael Chin from Lewis Holdway Lawyers and Dr. Matthew Turnour from Neumann & Turnour Lawyers made a visit to a number of Global Cross Legal (“GCL”) firms located in Asia including China (i.e. Hong Kong, Shenzen, Beijing, Shanghai), Singapore and Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur).
The aim of the trip was to strengthen existing relationships and to build new networks across Asia.
Fellow GCL member in Hong Kong, Mr. Hugo Chan of Liau, Ho & Chan Solicitors hosted the team to a high tea, and led the delegation to a meeting with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (Shenzen) at Futian, Shenzen. The Global Cross representatives also met with the Partners of Deheng Lawyers Office at Shenzen, Beijing and Shanghai.
The Australian Consul General (Shanghai), the Hon. Alice Cawte, met with the delegation in Shanghai. The Senior Committee of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University further hosted the team to an 18-course dinner at the esteemed campus at Xujiahui.
The team then completed the tour by visiting fellow GCL member, Kalco Law Advocates and Solicitors in Singapore, and the newly admitted member, Lee, Perara & Tan Advocates and Solicitors at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
